I have one last trip out of town. This next week we will collect the last vegetation samples before the first frosts and coming snow. Yes, I live in Canada. Winter comes earlier here and we have Thanksgiving in October. I've been working on a video trailer for Blue Moon House and it looks pretty awesome! My husband is going to help me clean it up when I get back at the end of the week.
If you have any updates or interesting people/bloggers I should be interviewing, let me know! I'm happy to give time and place here for friends of friends. Finally, a little excerpt from Blue Moon House because I just can't resist. Something fitting the death of summer.
In
a great burst of blinding white pain she collapsed back to the bed,
panting, only she wasn’t getting breath. She heaved harder,
dragging the air into her. Against her own strangled breath, she
heard a sob. It sounded like Sophia. Julia put her hands to her
chest, trying to claw, but unable to do much with them tied together.
She tried to pull at her nose and face. She probably would have
scraped herself raw if she hadn’t been secured. She thrashed,
trying to find air, and would have fallen from the bed if not for her
ankles. Instead, she hung precariously over the side, her vision
filled with the quietly weeping Harry who held himself against his
own pain as well as hers. It was the last thing she saw as her vision
blurred and then went black.

A Little Mini-Madness - DeLeetra Staley
Meet Quintessa Nevaeh James. A strong, independent, take charge woman with one flaw, she has a habit of thinking out loud. Quint also has an addiction to shoes that might be reason she has no man, she's never meet a man she loved more than her heels. Quint works for TGP(Thoroughly Groomed Personnel), one of the top temp agency's in New York. She is career oriented and thinks she only needs a man for the basics, which all revolve around the bedroom. Love is for suckers as far as Quint is concerned. In walks Alejandro Sin'Jin Galliani, a successful businessman, in desperate need of a temporary personal assistant. With his domineering, alpha male personality Quint can tell that Alejandro is a man accustomed to getting what he wants, and he wants Quint. But this time Alejandro may have bitten off more than he can chew, while Quint is wondering if there is more to this arrangement then him needing a top notch PA?
Take everyday humor and the odd things that can happen when two people fall in love, then top it off with three nosey friends, a diva Siamese cat and a witch of a boss and A Little Mini-Madness will have you wondering why everyday isn't a shoe shopping day.

What made you decide to take the leap and publish?

Flasher Fiction Friday - the Morgue #flasherfriday
“All in the make-up. I like the clothes myself. That flapper costume’s been in the back of Drew’s closet for years.”
“Where’d you get the sheets?”
David snorted. “Would you believe it’s extra satin from the coffins next door?”
“No way.”
“Yeah, people want white and they rip out the red.”
“Why the tie?”
“What?”
“Why do you have tie in there?”
“Shit! I’ve been looking for that.” David snatched it up, tying it in place.
“How long have you had her lying like that?”
“Ten hours? Let’s go.”
Read all the Flasher Friday pieces by popping to the blog and following the links. This Friday I'm a judge on the #FridayPictureShow on Jen DeSantis' blog. Come, write a flash piece, enter to win Blue Moon House! :) I'm a judge, but everyone wins.

The Tarot Diaries - Elicia Seawell
What would you do if you could find out your purpose in life? Would you want to know or be completely left in the dark?
Katie Jenkins finds out her purpose, but not in a way most people do. After a night of shots of tequila and a bet from her best friend, she is coerced to seek a fortune teller for insight into her future. What she finds out changes her life forever.
Katie comes from a long line of Romanian Gypsies cursed with the ability to not only read Tarot cards, but they also have to deliver the bad news to whomever the cards reveal. She, along with her best friend Phoenix (Finny) Carrington, seeks out those who are doomed and try to change their lives before something awful happens to them.
Can Katie stop a mad man from the deaths that surround her, or will she fall victim to the very same mad man responsible for the death of so many?
I'm very happy to announce a new release from my friend Elicia. She's the one who convinced me to send Blue Moon House to my publisher, so she gets giant props from me. In an odd twist of fate, we both released the same week!

Tantalyzing Tuesday - Shipbound
Sophie took her ease. The men were on deck, likely getting drunk. A luxury, time to herself. Had she worn any clothes, she would doff them. Instead, she used the boiled water to bathe her skin. The water had cooled over the day, but like everything on the ship, it was warm now, tepid. Evaporating, it did help relieve the heat.
Toweling pooled at her waist while she stretched each toe, flexing her feet and bending to rub them. Sitting back, she picked up a knife and trimmed her toenails. They could wriggle into a chink in a hull, a knot in a line, or the leg of a man, massaging and working each to her end.
Next she applied the knife to her fingers, removing caulking and tar that had built up. Her eyes moved from her hand to the door that was opening when it shouldn’t be. The captain stood on the other side, expectant. Hadn’t she done enough today? Helping hold the ship through a storm after servicing most of his crew had been a herculean task.
“Be ye available for one more, lass?”
The threw the knife so it caught the wall beside him.
“One, yes.”
