Given Time by E.D. Parr @parr_books

Thank you for inviting me to your blog with new Evernight Publishing M/M erotic romance, Given Time.

I wrote this story intending to dedicate it to someone in the front of the book when the  publisher asked if I had a dedication. In fact, I didn’t when given the chance, because it no longer seemed appropriate.

The inspiration for the story came last Christmas when I went to stay with friends in another county, but one that I know very well and have lived in. Just like Matt in the story I was shocked and deeply saddened when a much-loved celebrity suddenly died on Christmas Day. I’d followed this artist’s work for years and, because he was a musician, the lyrics and his songs had often lifted me from sadness.

Like many others I wandered off to the house the person lived and died in, which was just a couple of miles away in the next village. I sat in my car watching the parade of people placing tributes along the wall of the house.

The core of the inspiration came from seeing a lone man approach as fog descended on the long pathway. He was tall, slender, dressed stylishly from head to foot in black, and he carried a bunch of white lilies that he placed beside other flowers. His melancholy exuded from his elegant movements. The sight struck me and I couldn’t put it out of my mind as the circumstances surrounding the  death of this musician was reported in the news for weeks.

I know a little about the deceased’s life and know sadness surrounding his love-life was often woven into his songs. I wrote the story for him … for him to have a happy ending. If that sounds weird, then that’s okay … he gave me, and still does, such pleasure through his music.

The story isn’t about a musician. It’s about life and love. There are a number of scorching hot love scenes in the story, which I enjoyed writing for the two heroes, Matt and Angel, who after hoping for love, finally find it.
Thank you to the unknown, gorgeous man who laid lilies outside the big old house.

Given Time
Music video maker, Angel Starc is about to board a plane to Paris when he receives some sudden sad news. It takes him hurrying back to his childhood home after two years away, estranged from his older brother, Rory.
Angel is amazed and filled with guilt when that night he meets the only man he’s found romantically attractive in a long time. How can it be right? He should only be filled with sorrow, but gorgeous, caring Matt Loewe wraps him in a blanket of comfort and love that heals Angel’s troubled soul.
Delectable, artist, Matt Loewe, follows his hunches and his heart. He’s been looking for love and Angel ignites an addictive passion in him.
As the two men fall deep in love they provide each other with the care needed to come to terms with their past anxieties.

(Romantic erotica with HEA, warning, contains anal M/M sex, frottage, gay partner oral sex, partner masturbation, and explicit gay male love scenes)

He kissed Matt, gently, soaking up the feel of Matt’s skin against his nose. He thrust his hips so that his lower body crushed on Matt’s and the unmistakable shape of Matt’s cock, hard and bulging in his pants met Angel’s cock. A low groan escaped Angel and he deepened the kiss, clinging to Matt, as his legs weakened and his heart pounded.

Matt pushed his arms around Angel’s neck, and Angel’s hands fell away from the grip on his shoulders. Matt’s murmur penetrated Angel’s haze of pleasure. “I can’t even think straight, but I know I want you naked in my arms.” He rained kisses on Angel’s mouth.

Angel pushed his hands between their bodies. He traced Matt’s erection with his fingertips and then cupped it in his palm, pressing against the fabric of Matt’s pants.

Matt’s groan on Angel’s lips sent a shock of desire through his balls.
Angel opened Matt’s pants in a rapid move and thrust them down his thighs. He dragged Matt’s boxers down and grabbed his cock. The rock-hard column filled his fist and extended inches over it. He sighed out the pleasure the feeling gave him, kissing Matt hungrily. Angel’s cock strained against his pants and his stomach clenched so tight it made him breathless.

“Take off your clothes.” Matt’s urgent whisper teased on Angel’s lips.

Angel hurried to comply. He slid his hand from Matt’s cock taking with it the pulse of pre-cum that leaked from the slit. He licked his finger gazing into Matt’s eyes.

Matt gasped as he watched. He dragged off his jacket and pulled his tie from around the collar of his shirt. Practically wrenching the buttons from his shirt, he yanked it down his arms.

Angel gazed at him, taking off his jacket and shirt as he savored the sight of Matt’s muscled torso, and the way Matt’s perfect cock bounced as he moved. Matt was already naked and Angel went to him. He grabbed his ass and pulled him close. “Fucking hell, you are so hot, and it’s been so long for me I might come just looking at you.” He kissed Matt.

Matt’s response made his cock jerk. The passion in his kiss scorched down Angel’s stomach. He escaped Matt’s lips with a groan and pulled off his pants, levering off his boots as quickly as he could.

Matt ran his hands along Angel’s ass.
Angel jerked upright and spun around.
Matt’s eyes darkened and he held out his arms.

Angel rammed his body on Matt’s and they crashed together, murmuring hoarse sounds. Matt’s cock rubbed on Angel’s and he rocked his hips so that the hard columns slid along each other. His chest felt tight as his lower body clenched with the need to come.
“I might fucking fall down if I don’t come soon.” He whispered…

S.M. Blooding ~ Demon Whiskey ~ One of 20+ stories in Creatures #paranormal #romance #boxedset #99cents

I would have to say my favorite right now is the Dryad. I mean, I've always enjoyed the dragon, but the dryad is one with trees. And they're incredibly beautiful. I don't just mean their faces and bodies are gorgeous, but their souls are, too, I would think.

And they don't get a lot of attention, you know? Because they're not one of the tougher mythological creatures. They're kind of the underdog and I love rooting for them. LOL!

Leslie Whiskey is the invisible glue that holds her coven together. Her amazing kitchen witch grandmother. Her two hell-crazy, hormonal, going-to-tear-this-house-down children. Her amazing mundane husband who puts up with all the craziness.

And her homicide detective, demon summoning sister and her seems-to-be-normal-so-far daughter. So, when their angel whispering mother strolls into town with eyes on destroying their lives, Leslie knows she's the one who has to take the stand.

Everyone else might be fooled by Rachel Whiskey. But not Leslie.

She was there. She remembers.

And she'll never forget.

#MidWeekTease Fairy Tale retelling

Today I'm teasing you again from my retelling of Swan Lake. Here's a happy moment before our story takes a bad turn. Hope you enjoy!

Odette spun in the lacy white gown, awaiting approval from Anna and her mother. Katrina Werner applauded.
“You look amazing, my dear. I’m so happy for you.”
“Thank you!” Odette surged up to hug the woman. “I will never be able to thank you enough.” She ran her hand over the bodice.
The dress was made by the Werners specifically for Odette. The slender style would fit neither Anna nor Katrina. Her friend wore gold, a skirt that shimmered when she moved.
People told Odette that she could fetch a man while wearing a potato sack, but she always envied Anna’s fine clothes. Not tonight! Lifting her feathered mask, she set it on her head just as Anna donned hers, also feathered, but in red, a cock’s tail.
The masquerade was a bit of a ruse. Siegfried planned to use the occasion to reveal Odette as his bride. She hadn’t seen him since the night the king interrupted them.
Heat seared her cheeks at that memory. She’d been spread out, completely exposed for Siegfried’s pleasure. Having already found his own once, he was avid in bringing hers again and again.
Vlad’s warning had been as effective as a bucket of ice water. Since then, she’d met her savior twice bu not her lover. Even though Vlad brought messages for her, his real purpose was to visit Anna. Their engagement wouldn’t be announced tonight, but it was arranged.
Odette couldn’t be happier for Anna. She truly glowed, sparkling like her dress. Vladimir had an effect Odette had tried to elicit for years. Instead of shy and hiding, Anna was confident, head high.
“Let’s go.” Anna hurried to the carriage waiting for them.
“Thank you again,” Odette told Katrina, hugging her.
“It is our pleasure. Consider it an early wedding present.”
Odetted grinned, feeling the tightness in her cheeks. She hadn’t stopped smiling in days.

Plenty more, just hop to all the great teases this week.

A majestic white horse steps out of the mist, sparkling silver mane shifting as she walks, and between her eyes emerges a long, straight horn. Unicorns, from my first introduction to them, have been my favorite mythical beast. I come from the prairies, so I’ve always had a thing for horses, but unicorns sparked my imagination. I remember watching the Last Unicorn and cheering for the return of unicorns at the end. Many unicorns, a musical plushy, a calendar, cross-stitch patterns, filled my room. Anywhere I could squeeze in a unicorn, I did. As I grew older, my imagination became boxed up, thinking inside the terms of adulthood and my choice of study and career, but lately, as I release that imagination again, to give me new worlds and characters to explore, the unicorn is returning as well.

When Reverie offers to tend her grandmother’s store the summer after graduation, she gets a lot more than she bargained for. The shop isn’t the problem. The dark eyes and bright smile of two residents complicate her stay almost immediately, and just when she thinks she might have the cousins sorted out, she discovers that the whole town, including her grandmother, have a secret, one that she now shares. Is there any chance all this shapeshifting is just a bad dream? And if it comes with Lucius and Kerwin, does she really want to wake?

You want me to choose just one mythical creature that’s my favorite? That’s like asking me to choose only one ice cream flavor or tell you which Doctor in Doctor Who was the best! (*cough*Ten*cough*)

I’ve changed my mind a few times but I’m going to settle on Cthulhu, an old god that is a part of the Lovecraftian mythos. As a big fan of both H.P. Lovecraft and horror in general (I was reading Stephen King at 7), the idea of an ancient being so alien and unable to be understood, lurking in the depths below hits all the pleasure centers in my brain. I can’t tell you why that appeals to me so much but there are hints of it in my own work, subconsciously added.

Which is probably why one of my favorite movies, Cabin in the Woods directed by an old god himself, Joss Whedon, is one of my favorite movies with an ending that makes me smile.

I have issues.

They say demons and angels don’t mix. I say people should mind their own damn business.

My brother, Damian, has been my rock ever since mom left. Didn’t matter that I'm demon-blooded. I was his and he was mine.

But nothing lasts forever.

He wants me to go to college. I’d rather fight a hundred sentinels than lead a boring, safe life hiding who I am. So when a nephilim goes missing, I go behind Damian’s back to find the teen. Maybe if I can solve the case, he will upgrade me to his partner in crime solving.

As bodies begin dropping, I realize I’m in way over my head. But there’s no way I’m going to admit that, not when my future hangs in the balance. It's do or die time, and I'm not going down without a fight.

#Midweektease Ethereal Witness

Thought I'd share another snippet from Ethereal Witness today. If you read Ethereal Protector, you might remember that Summer was having flashbacks to her previous incarnation, Mary. The same is happening to Paige, but her ancestor is Jane, a slave in Salem at the time of the witch trials.

Paige pulled the door closed behind her, hesitating until she was sure the lady still slept. She only took two paces before she was approached by the master. He was still dressed from dinner, although his jacket and shirt were both open.
“Excuse me, sir.” She tried to move out of his path, sweeping her narrow black skirts closer.
His hand spread over her hip, taking hold and pulling her closer. “Lydia is asleep?”
Paige nodded.
“Good. Jane, I have a task for you.” He fumbled at his waist and she shook her head, backing away. “You have no husband, is that correct?”
Paige’s eyes darted from the growing expanse of white skin beneath his navel to his eyes. “Please, Master.” She tugged to free her arm.
“I won’t force you, Jane.” He pulled her flush against him, his erection pressing into her belly. “But I would reward you for helping rid me of this. You betray no one and Lydia isn’t bothered by dalliances as long as they aren’t with her lady friends.” His hand slid down the back of her arm, cupping her elbow.
“But I don’t… I’ve never…”
“Hush, Jane. I understand. Here, take it like this.” His hand guided hers to his length.
She fumbled, fingers slipping, spreading the wetness already there. In moments, she puzzled out how to stroke him. “Master Charles, I shouldn’t.”
“Shh. You’re doing exactly what I asked. Let me touch you.”
She flinched and backed up, but his hands went to her face and she relaxed when he didn’t grab for her breasts or ass. He drew lines over her cheekbone, along her jaw.
“Yes, keep it like that.” His eyes rolled back and his grip on her chin tightened, tipping it up. “You are doing it perfectly.” His nose brushed hers and he hunched. The girth of him had grown slightly, but now he throbbed and her apron grew damp. Rather than release her, Charles pulled her tighter, kissing her.
Gasping, she gave him access to her mouth and he claimed it, tongue probing in an unfamiliar way. She had kissed boys, but never like this.

Paige started awake. “What the fuck was that?” Only when she saw the time on her clock did she regret the words. Listening carefully, she waited for one of her roommates to wake and yell at her or pound on the wall.

Alex Owens ~ Dark Destiny ~ One of 20+ stories in Creatures #paranormal #romance #boxedset #99cents

Mythical Creatures With

If you’d ask me to pick my favorite creature of myth a few years ago, the choice would have been an easy one. Witches, with their elemental powers born from the earth. They are conduits for nature’s awesome, and perfectly observable, raw magic. Witches are the closest thing we have to being possible, being real, in that regard. Now with the years creeping up on me, I’d go a different route. Vampires. They are immortal and at a time when getting myself out of bed each morning reveals a new ache or pain, I’d certainly appreciate the lack of cellular degeneration. Their lasting youthfulness could also fix what is wrong with my reflection in the mirror these days. Can’t you imagine it? No need to waste buckets of money on cosmetics, dental work, fad diets or medical expenses. That alone would have me greedily sucking down the nearest cup of platelets! While in my very own castle, of course. Alex Owens is the Author of Dark Destiny.

You can find out more about Alex here.
